Teaching Philosophy
“Being a musician is not merely a profession, it is a way of life. It is a passion, a vocation, an obsession. It is a privilege and a scourge which brings great satisfactions and great torments. Classical music is a spiritual force. It inspires, uplifts and invigorates; consoles and edifies; challenges us to confront our inner selves and our destinies.”
-James Conlon (Magrath, 1998)
As a performing artist in piano and violin, my teaching is illuminated with my avid performing experiences, flourishing pedagogical training, and profound musical inspiration. My goal is to integrate music into daily life by fostering effective practice habits while nurturing each student’s unique strengths and interests. This holistic approach empowers students, shaping their musicianship and personal growth.
At Rodriguez Music Studio, students will find a supportive yet stimulating environment to develop as musicians. I strive to understand music through my students’ ears and see it through their eyes, guiding them toward self-discovery and fostering independence, creativity, and discipline. Encouraging students to develop their own musical expression is at the heart of my teaching. In return, I expect a strong commitment—beginning with consistent daily practice and active parent involvement. Establishing healthy practice habits is the key that connects each weekly lesson to long-term progress.
Music is a long-term commitment that cultivates invaluable skills. Every student has the potential to experience meaningful musical growth when equipped with practical learning tools.
In the end, I yearn to develop lifelong music lovers — individuals who are not only passionate and dedicated musicians but also kind, humble, and hardworking members of society. Let us commence this musical adventure together.
