Teaching Philosophy
“Being a musician is not merely a profession, it is a way of life. It is a passion, a vocation, an obsession. It is a privilege and a scourge which brings great satisfactions and great torments. Classical music is a spiritual force. It inspires, uplifts and invigorates; consoles and edifies; challenges us to confront our inner selves and our destinies.”
-James Conlon (Magrath, 1998)
As a performing artist in piano and violin, my teaching is illuminated with my avid performing experiences, flourishing pedagogical training, and profound musical inspiration. My goal is to implement music as a lifestyle by realizing effective practice habits while nurturing each student to develop their strengths and interests, which results in empowering their entire persona as the foundation to being a musician.
Students studying at Rodriguez Music Studio will find a nurturing yet invigorating environment to grow as musicians. It is my goal to be able to hear through every students' ears and see through every students’ eyes. Furthermore, my teaching consists of guiding students to make their own self discoveries while fostering independent, creative, and disciplined learners. In addition, it is crucial for me to inspire students to develop their own musical expression inside and out through their musical journey. In return, I expect a high degree of commitment starting with daily practice and parent involvement. Exercising healthy practice methods is the glue that links every weekly lesson.
Music is a long-term commitment which in the end, develops lifelong skills. Every unique student has the potential to engage in meaningful musical experiences if they are given practical learning tools.
In the end, I yearn to develop lifelong music lovers and for my students to be benevolent, passionate, humble, and hardworking citizens of the world. Let us commence this musical adventure together.
